The Probioskin mini blog series “5 minutes with…” is designed to introduce our readers to a range of health, wellness & fitness colleagues, athletes, practitioners and business people we feel align with our own wellness values and that we know have something to share with you. We cant wait to introduce you to our tribe of like-minded people! Oh and don’t forget to drop back soon to hear more from Tahlia. Lets get started….with Tahlia Ware

Tell us a little about yourself / your business….

I am a Melbourne based Pilates Instructor. I teach a range of classes from private studio Pilates, to group Mat and Reformer classes, small group, prenatal, athletic conditioning and everything in between! I have been instructing for the past 5 years prior to that I was working as professional dancer both in Melbourne and overseas.

What inspired you to begin your business?

I sustained a back injury while working as a dancer and I turned to Pilates for rehabilitation. I dedicated myself to the Pilates practice and through a lot of hard work and guidance I was able to heal my back, clear my mind and take my life into a really positive space. I fell in love with power of Pilates and wanted to share it with the world – so I took the plunge and became an instructor.

What message do you hope your business spreads?

One of the biggest things I have learnt through out my Pilates journey is it is not about how you look; it is about how you feel. I want my clients to feel strong, to feel mobile, to feel healthy and through that become empowered. It is important to find goals that run deeper than just aesthetics that allow us to open up and connect to our souls. This is the space where the real transformation happens!

How do you look after yourself?

I have always been active and I truly believe that movement is medicine. It is important to do things that you enjoy – fitness should be fun! You should enjoy what you do or you will never be motivated to continue to do it. It is easy to keep active when I enjoy the exercise I am doing.

I am Vegan and I don’t drink alcohol. The older I get the more important it is to me to know what I am putting in my body, to make good choices and use food to fuel my body and mind.

What wellness practices do you bring into the office?

I am very lucky that my ‘office’ is a Pilates studio – which is like a playground for any instructor. I have access to every piece of equipment I could ever want! I try to utilize my time in between clients and classes to practice exercise or workout myself.

If you could only have 5 favourite foods what would they be?

  1. Mushrooms
  2. Avocados
  3. Spinach
  4. Raspberries
  5. Macadamia nuts

Such a typical Vegan!

What is your number one wellness tip when travelling?

Travel light, stay active and make good food choices!

To Quote the from the Source,

“Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness. Our interpretation of physical fitness is the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body with a sound mind fully capable of naturally, easily, and satisfactorily performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure – Joseph Pilates
Pilates let’s me live my life with spontaneous zest, what could be better than that! Tahlia xx
